How to record your iOS device's screen with QuickTime Player

Requirements:

  • iOS 8.x or newer on your iOS Device
  • OS X Yosemite or newer on your MAC
  • Lightning or 30 Pin Dock Connector for your iOS Device

How to take the Video

  1. Connect your iOS device to your mac using the Lightning or 30 Pin dock connector
  2. Go to the Applications Folder on your MAC and select the Quick Time Player
  3. Select where to save your file and select Done
  4. Select FILE
  5. Select New Movie Recording
  6. In the Windows that appears select the small downward pointing arrow to the right of record button and change the camera and microphone settings to your iOS Device
  7. Select your video quality.  High is more than sufficient
  8. Click on the big red record button to begin recording
  9. Go through the steps on your iOS device to duplicate the issue you would like us to see
  10. Click on the record button again to stop recording

How to save the video you just recorded

  1. Click File...Save or press Command S to bring up the save dialog
  2. Enter the file name
  3. Select the save location
  4. Select Save

Your video has now been saved in the location you chose and is available to be uploaded on our HelpDesk
